  7. About the Connectix Virtual Game Station DEMO
  8.  
  9. Three major features are disabled in this demo version:
  10.  
  11. 1. Two-player support (i.e. second controller cannot be configured or used).
  12. 2. Memory card support (cards cannot be created or used).
  13. 3. Controller support (only the keyboard can be used to control gameplay).

  21. Installing the Connectix Virtual Game Station DEMO

  23. The installation of Connectix Virtual Game Station (CVGS) is a two-step process. Part 1 installs CVGS. Part 2 installs ATI's driver updates. Please follow these guidelines carefully and your installation should be quick and effective!

  26. PART 1:    INSTALLING THE CVGS DEMO APPLICATION.
  27.  
  28. 1. Double-click the Connectix VGS DEMO Installer icon.
  29. 2. Scroll through and read the CVGS End User License Agreement, then click on the "Continue" button.
  30. 3. "Easy Install" is already selected.
  31. 4. Click on "Install."
  32. 5. When installation is complete, the “Installation was successful” dialog displays. Click on either "OK" or "Restart."

  34. NOTE: In order to use the Connectix Virtual Game Station demo, you may have to restart your Mac in order for the changes made by the installers to take effect.

  37. PART 2: UPDATING THE ATI DRIVERS
  38.  
  39. Users of later model Macs and OSes (Rev. B iMacs forward, B/W, Graphite G3's & G4's, iBooks, PowerBook "Wall Street," "Bronze Keyboard (Lombard)," and "PowerBook 2000 (Pismo)" models, as well as Mac Cubes) (Mac OS 8.5 - 9.x) DO NOT need to update their video drivers.

  41. If you have an older model Macintosh (Beige G3, Rev. A iMac) and/or and older version of the Mac OS (8.0-8.1), please do the following:

  43. 1. Download the latest ATI Universal Drivers by pointing your browser to:

  47. As of this writing the current drivers are version 4.2 and are located at:

  51. 2. Double-click on "Univ42.sit" file
  52. 3. Once it is decompressed, double-click on the "Univ42" folder.
  53. 4. Double-click on the "ATI Universal Installer 4.2."
  54. 5. Click on "Continue."
  55. 6. Click on  "Continue" after you have read the "READ ME" file.
  56. 7. Click on the "Agree" button to acknowledge ATI’s End User License Agreement.. 
  57. 8. Click on the pop-up menu and select "Custom Install."
  58. 9, Follow the chart below to choose the appropriate package to install:

  60. Beige G3 & iMac Rev. A,B,C     =  Xclaim™ 3D (Rage II+)
  61. iMac Rev. D                           =  Xclaim™ 3D (Rage Pro)
  62. Later Model Mac G3/G4           =  No Driver Update Required.

  65. *Later model iMacs ship with the appropriate video drivers. Drivers for Mac OS versions prior to 9.0.x may be updated by the user if desired. 
  66. ** G3/G4 Macs (B/W, Graphite, recent PowerBooks, as well as Cubes) ship with appropriate video drivers. Drivers for Mac OS versions prior to 9.0.x may be updated by the user if desired.

  68. 10. Click "Install."
  69. 11. Click on "Yes" in response to “Do you wish to continue?”
  70. 12. The installer will notify you that "The installer cannot detect the corresponding ATI hardware. Do you want to continue?" 
  71. 13. Click "Continue."
  72. 14. The Installer may notify you at this point that it has replaced active items in your System Folder with newer versions. Click "OK" to any dialog boxes regarding changes to your System folder.
  73. 15. The Installer displays: “Installation was successful.”
  74. 16. Click on "Restart" to exit the installer.
